Montargil Monte Novo is a place where time slows down and people gather around the table to share a seasonal dish prepared with care. In Alto Alentejo, by the Montargil Dam, at km 460 of the EN2 Route and around 95 km from Lisbon, every detail invites you to stay. Expect generous tables with produce from our vegetable garden, fireplaces lit in winter, quiet corners with views and houses designed for lingering. We serve what the land gives us, at the rhythm of the seasons and with care.

Casa Redonda

An authentic and distinctive narrative that defines the essence of Montargil Monte Novo and that we consider essential to share.

Casa Redonda is a unique architectural piece, over 30 years old, set beside the Montargil Dam. Conceived as a true family home, it brings together four double bedrooms within an intimate and welcoming atmosphere, faithful to the spirit of a house designed to receive. Distinct in both form and identity, it moves away from the traditional codes of Alentejo architecture to assert its own language, where the relationship with the landscape and the experience of space take centre stage.

As one of the final works by the architect Peter Neufert, Casa Redonda clearly reflects his belief that “creating family homes brings the designer closer to his life’s purpose: the human being.” That philosophy remains alive in this space, originally created for his own family and still fulfilling the same purpose today — to welcome, to gather, and to carry its story forward.

At Casa Redonda, the restaurant opens onto a wide and serene view over the Montargil Dam, creating a unique setting for every meal. This natural, wide and serene setting becomes the ideal backdrop to fully experience garden to table, strengthening the connection between the territory, the food and the moment of the meal. The best of local gastronomy, regional products chosen according to seasonality, The dishes are prepared with a deep knowledge of the land, of seasonal vegetables and fruits, transforming simple ingredients into unique creations, where flavour recalls childhood memories, home cooking and the emotions linked to comfort and sharing.
